THE CONSERVATION (NATURAL HABITATS, &C.) REGULATIONS 1994: REGULATION 22
Readyleech Green (Staffordshire) Special Nature Conservation Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that on 5th February 1998, the Secretary of State for the Environment acting under Regulation 22 of The Conservation (Natural Habitats, &c.) Regulations 1994 (“the Regulations”) made the Readyleech Green (Staffordshire) Special Nature Conservation Order 1998 (“the Order”) in respect of the land described in Schedule 1 to the Order. The Order specifies the operations which appear to the Secretary of State likely to destroy or damage the features of the land by reason of which it is within a European site (within the meaning of the Regulations); these features are the wet rushy unimproved pasture and blanket bog together with the associated bird populations. The Order is reproduced in the annex to this notice.   2. The general effect of the Order is to prohibit any person from carrying out the operations specified in Schedule 2 to the Order on the land described in Schedule 1. In certain circumstances this prohibition does not apply. These circumstances are set out in Regulations 23 and 24.   3. The Order took effect when it was made, 5th February 1998, and will cease to have effect 9 months after it was made unless the Secretary of State previously gives notice that he has considered it and does not propose to amend or revoke it or that he has amended or revoked it.   4. Representations about or objections to the Order may be made to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Room 922, Tollgate House, Houlton Street, Bristol BS2 9DJ, before 20th March 1998. They should be in writing and should state the title of the Order. In the case of objections, the grounds on which they are made should be stated.   5. Copies of the Order and the map referred to in it have been deposited at the offices of the Peak District National Park Authority, Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1AE. They may be seen, free of charge, at all reasonable hours. R. M. Pritchard, Divisional Director, Wildlife and Countryside Directorate in the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions duly authorised to sign in that behalf. February 1998.
