WANDSWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL
Boat Races on the Thames at Putney 1998-99

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Wandsworth, with the agreement of the Council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, propose to make the Wandsworth and Richmond (Prescribed Routes) (No.  ) Traffic Order 199  under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.   2. The Order would facilitate the regulation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in connection with the holding of the Universities Boat Race and other races on the River Thames during 1998-99.   3. The general effect of the Order would be to:   (a) impose one-way working for vehicles in the roads specified in Schedule 1 to this notice;   (b) prohibit vehicles from entering the roads specified in Schedule 2 to this notice at their junctions with Lower Richmond Road (unless otherwise specified);   (c) prohibit vehicles and pedestrians from entering the roads specified in Schedule 3 to this notice.   4. The prohibitions referred to in paragraph 2 above would only apply on the following dates between the hours of 7 a.m. and midnight:     Saturday, 21st March 1998; Sunday, 22nd March 1998; Saturday, 28th March 1998; Saturday, 4th April 1998; Saturday, 17th April 1998; Saturday, 14th November 1998; Friday, 12th March 1999; Saturday, 13th March 1999; Saturday, 27th March 1999; Sunday, 28th March 1999; Saturday, 3rd April 1999; Saturday, 10th April 1999; Saturday, 9th October 1999; Saturday, 20th November 1999.   5. The prohibitions would not apply in relation to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform and would only apply at such times as are indicated by traffic signs.   6. Copies of documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposed Order, including a drawing showing the location and effect of the Order as proposed, are available for inspection during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays in The Concourse, The Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, London SW18 2PU. The documents will remain available until the end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Order.   7. Further information may be obtained from the Administration Department (telephone 0181-871 7520) or from the Borough Engineer’s Service (telephone 0181-871 6542).   8. Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds on which it is made to the Chief Executive and Director of Administration, Room 153, The Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, London SW18 2PU (quoting the Ref.
