The Council of the London Borough of Southwark Notice of Proposal to make a Traffic Management Order

The London Borough of Southwark (Cycle Lane) (No.  ) Traffic Order 199 

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1989, that the Council of the London Borough of Southwark, proposes to make the above-mentioned Order.   The proposed Orders would be made under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991.   The general effect of the Orders would be to:   (a) introduce “at any time” waiting restrictions on the west side of Bermondsey Street from a point opposite the north-westernmost wall of No. 14 Bermondsey Street to a point opposite the western wall of No. 84 Tooley Street;   (b) introduce two-way cycle tracks (2m wide) on lengths of footway in Lower Road as follows:       (i) the south-west side, from the north-eastern kerb-line of Gomm Road to a point 30 metres south-west of that kerb-line;       (ii) the north-east side, from the north-eastern kerb-line of Hothfield Place to a point 50 metres north-west of that kerb-line.   A copy of the Orders and further information may be obtained from Abu Barkatoolah, Southwark Regeneration and Environment Department, Council Offices, Chiltern House, Portland Street, London SE17 2ES, Tel. 0171-525 5474.   A copy of the proposed Orders, the Southwark (Waiting and Loading Restrictions) Traffic Order 1976, together with plans and the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Orders can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the end of a period of 21 days from the date on which this notice is published in the Council Offices, Chiltern House, Portland Street, London SE17 2ES.   Any persons desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof, to the Director of Regeneration and Environment, Council Offices, Chiltern House, Portland Street, London SE17 2ES, quoting Ref.
