Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lewisham, made the above-named experimental Traffic Order in accordance with the provisions of sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) on the 13th February 1998. The Order will come into force on the 9th March 1998 and can remain in force for up to 18 months.   (A) The general nature and effect of the Order is to introduce 3 lengths of with-flow bus lane on parts of the A21 Priority (Red) Route, Bromley Road, south of Sangley Road, Catford:     operating 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Mondays to Fridays:       (1) Northwest-bound, from the service road junction between Downham Way and Old Bromley Road to approx. 33 metres south-east of the junction with Southend Lane; and       (2) Northbound, from approx. 214 metres to approx. 67 metres from the junction with Sangley Road; operating 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays to Fridays:       (3) South-eastbound, from the accessway to the Bromley Road Police Station to 7 metres south-east of the accessway to 335-337 Bromley Road (approx. 80 metres north-west of Whitefoot Lane).   The Order will suspend and replace the GLC’s Lewisham (Bus Lane) (No. 3) Traffic Order 1983 which introduced a north-westbound bus lane in Bromley Road between Old Bromley Road and Oldstead Road.   (B) Exemptions from the bus lane restrictions include being in the bus lane: for the carrying out of various statutory duties; any vehicle if obliged by law, in an emergency or to avoid an accident; fire brigade, ambulance or police vehicles; and anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.   In due course the Council will be considering whether or not the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Within the period of 6 months from the coming into force of the Order, or if the Order is subsequently varied by another Order or modified, from the coming into force of that variation or modification (whichever is the latest), any person may object to the making of an Order to continue those provisions in force indefinitely. Any such objection must be made in writing, and must give the grounds on which it is made, and sent to London Borough of Lewisham, Lewisham Design Services, ref. P. Sear, Laurence House, 2nd Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU. Any objection may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.   While the Order is in force the Council’s Head of Highways and Transportation, or some person authorised by him, may modify or suspend the Order or any provision in it if it appears essential to do so for certain purposes.   During the period of operation of the Order a copy of the Order, of Lewisham Council’s statement of reasons for the measures and for proceeding by way of experiment, of plans indicating the location and effect of the Order, and copies of any Order revoked, suspended, varied or amended by the Order can be inspected during normal office hours at the London Borough of Lewisham One-Stop-Shop, Laurance House, Ground Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU.   Any person wishing to question the validity of either Order, or of any of their provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any relevant requirement of that Act, or of any Instrument or regulation made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court. K. Nicholson, Head of Law Lewisham Town Hall,   Catford, London S.E.6. 19th February 1998.
