Notice of application for a licence to abstract water

Take notice that Charrington Fruit Farms of Old Cryals Farm, Matfield, Tonbridge, Kent TN12 7HW, are applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from an unnamed tributary of the River Teise feeding into an on-line reservoir at National Grid Reference TQ 663 402 at Old Cryals Farm, Matfield, Kent. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 18.2 cubic metres per hour, 436.8 cubic metres per day and 18,184 cubic metres per year, between 1st April and 31st October in any year. The water will be used for spray irrigation of fruit trees. The quantities requested were formally authorised at the site.   A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Old Cryals Farm, Matfield, Kent between 20th February and 21st March 1998.   Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Orchard House, Endeavour Park, London Road, Addington, West Malling, Kent ME19 5SH, before the end of the said period.
