The City of Newcastle upon Tyne (Shield Street Area) Prohibition of Waiting Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that Newcastle City Council propose to make an Order under sections 1, 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984.   The effect of the proposed Order is to introduce a no waiting at any time restriction on the following lengths of road. This will replace the existing no waiting 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. restriction:   (a)  Shield Street, east side:       (i) from a point 26 metres from Copland Terrace northwards for 20 metres;       (ii) from a point 77 metres from Copland Terrace northwards for 20 metres;       (iii) from a point 45 metres from Wretham Place northwards for 20 metres;       (iv) from a point 28 metres from Coppice Way northwards for 20 metres;       (v) from a point 46 metres from Barker northwards for 20 metres.   (b)  Shield Street, west side:       (i) from a point 26 metres from Simpson Terrace northwards for 20 metres;       (ii) from a point 77 metres from Simpson Terrace northwards for 20 metres;       (iii) from a point 170 metres from Simpson Terrace northwards for 20 metres;       (iv) from a point 28 metres from Napier Street northwards for 20 metres;       (v) from a point 128 metres from Napier Street northwards for 20 metres.   (c)  Copland Terrace, both sides:       (i) from a point 28 metres from Shield Street eastwards for 20 metres;       (ii) from a point 98 metres from Shield Street eastwards for 20 metres.   (d)  Simpson Terrace:       North side, from a point 43 metres from Falconar Street north-eastwards for 20 metres.       South side, from a point 52 metres from Falconar Street north-eastwards for 15 metres.   Full details are contained in the draft Order which, together with a plan showing the restrictions and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be examined at the offices of The Department of Highways and Transportation, Civic Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, Mondays to Fridays, 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Department of Highways and Transportation on (0191) 2328520 ext. 6007.   If you wish to object to the proposed Order you should send the grounds for your objection in writing to the undersigned quoting reference GH/P44/274 by 17th March 1998.
