Highways Act 1980, Section 116
Notice is hereby given that Leeds City Council, being the Highway Authority for the
highway hereinafter mentioned, intend to apply to the Wetherby Magistrates’ Court,
sitting at The Courthouse, Boston Road, Wetherby, on Wednesday, 1st April 1998, at
10 a.m., for an Order authorising:
(a) The diversion of a highway, subject to the reservation of a footpath, as described
in Part I of the Schedule hereto;
(b) The provision of a replacement highway more commodious to the public, described
in Part II of the Schedule hereto.
A plan showing the effect of the proposed Order may be inspected, free of charge,
during normal office hours at the offices of the Leeds City Council, Legal Services
Agency, Room 213, Civic Hall, Leeds LS1 1UR.
Any person who has an interest in land adjoining or served by the said highway,
or who use the said highway, or would otherwise be aggrieved by the making of the
Order, has a right to be heard by the Court on the hearing of the application by the
Council.
Any person intending to appear before the Court at the hearing of the application
is asked to notify the Leeds City Council, Legal Services Agency, Civic Hall, Leeds
LS1 1UR (quoting Ref. A76/JAK).

Schedule
Part I—Description of Highway to be Diverted
Brierlands Lane, Garforth, from the junction with the A642 Aberford Road, Garforth, adjacent to No.
11 Brierlands Close, for its full length of 284 metres, including a northerly spur
for a distance of 30 metres, as shown hatched black on the plan, subject to the reservation
of a footpath between points “A” and “B” on the said plan.
Part II—Description of Replacement Highway
An as yet unnamed highway from a point on the A642 Aberford Road, Garforth, 130
metres north of Brierlands Lane, in a generally south-easterly direction to serve
a new housing development and the relocated Garforth AFC football ground, shown stippled
on the plan.
