LONDON BOROUGH OF EALING
The Ealing (Prescribed Routes) (No. 24) Traffic Order 1998
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Ealing, hereinafter
called the Council, on 27th February 1998, made the above-mentioned Order under section
6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act
1985.
2. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles, the overall width of which,
together with the load (if any) carried thereon, exceeds 7 feet from entering that
length of the carriageway of Hanger Vale Lane which extends from a point 21.50 metres
east of the eastern kerb-line of Cherry Wood Way and a point 24.50 metres east of
that kerb-line.
3. Exemption has been provided in the Order so that nothing in paragraph 2 above
shall apply to:
(a) any vehicle being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in certain
circumstances;
(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable
in uniform; or
(c) anything done in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by
traffic signs placed on the highway by or on behalf of the Metropolitan Police.
4. A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on 6th March 1998, of the
Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order and a plan showing the location
may be inspected during a period of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made,
during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, at BRETS Reception, 24
Uxbridge Road, Ealing W5 2BP. Copies of the Order may be purchased at this address.
5. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision
contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof
or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation
to the Order may, within 6 weeks of the making of the Order, make application for
the purpose to the High Court.
