Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with section 69(1) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, the Malvern Hills District Council designated on 10th February 1998 the undermentioned areas as Conservation Areas.    Upton-upon-Severn :       —the inclusion of Regal Garage, Church Street and the field enclosure to rear, the walled boundary to Old Wall’s, Dunn’s Lane and the garden setting to Old Gardens;       —the inclusion of traditional buildings along Court Street and School Lane, including St. Joseph’s Church, the Police Station, Buryfields and the inclusion of Hilton House, Minge Lane and gardens to the rear of Nos. 77 to 85 Old Street;       —the exclusion of the caravan site and marina to the north of the river and exclusion of Riverside Close and Firlea;       —the exclusion of the Sport’s Ground to the west of Old Street and the exclusion of Collinghurst, New Street.    Clifton-upon-Teme :       —the exclusion of the properties to the north of No. 39, The Village;       —the exclusion of a small number of modern properties on the edge of the conservation area boundary to include the modern block to the primary school;       —the exclusion of land to the rear of The Old Stable and The Vicarage.    Hanley Castle :       —the inclusion of Fern Cottage and the garden boundary to The Almshouses;       —the exclusion of recently constructed buildings to Hanley Castle High School.   The effect of the designation of these Conservation Areas will be that no person may, without the written consent of the Council, demolish any building or cut down, top, lop, uproot or wilfully damage any tree within the Conservation Area. Offences against these provisions may result in heavy fines.   The Council will also give special attention to the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area.   Plans showing these areas can be inspected during normal office working hours at the Planning Services Department, Brunel House, Portland Road, Malvern, Worcestershire WR14 2TB, and any enquiries regarding the above should be addressed to Chief Officer (Planning Services) at the same address.
