Banned Right Turn—Sydenham Road/St. James’s Road

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Croydon propose to make the above-mentioned Order under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.   The general effect of the Order will be to ban vehicles proceeding in Sydenham Road in a southerly direction from turning right into St. James’s Road.   The prohibition and restriction referred to in the second paragraph above will not apply to:   (a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform; or   (b) anything done in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on a highway by or on behalf of the Metropolitan Police.   A copy of the proposed Order (and of all related Orders) of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order and of a map indicating the lengths of road to which the proposed Order relates can be inspected for a period of 21 days from the date of this notice during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, at the One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey.   Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Traffic Management Section, Public Services and Works Department, London Borough of Croydon, on 0181-686 4433, extension 4907.   The Councillors for the Ward are Peter Champion and Nuala O’Neill.   Persons desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Order Making Section, Public Services and Works Department, London Borough of Croydon, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey, quoting Ref. TH/JAA/PR/SYD within the afore-said 21 days.   The Order is intended to introduce a banned right turn for southbound vehicles from Sydenham Road into St. James’s Road which will reduce delays in Sydenham Road without affecting traffic travelling on St. James’s Road.
