The Lewisham (Bus Lanes) (No.  ) Traffic Order 1998
The Lewisham (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No.  ) Traffic Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lewisham, in accordance with the provisions of section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) propose to make the two Traffic Orders mentioned above as part of London Bus Priority Network implementation, the greater part of the measures having been in force for some time experimentally.   The general effect of the two Orders would respectively be to implement as permanent measures:   (1) A north-eastbound bus lane in Downham Way north-west side from the junction with Northover to 15 metres west of the junction with Reigate Road, operating 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday.   (2) Additions or alterations in waiting restrictions as follows (by amending the consolidation Order, the Lewisham (Waiting and Loading Restriction) Order 1990):       (a) Generally: No waiting 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., No Loading or Unloading 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday in:         (i) Downham Way north-west side in the bus lane (except loading ban Monday to Friday only);         (ii) Baring Road from (approximately) 80 metres north of junction Chinbrook Road to 80 metres south of junction Downham Way;         (iii) Chinbrook Road from junction Baring Road to junction Amblecote Road.       (b) No Waiting 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., Monday to Saturday in: Downham Way south side from junction Northover to junction Galahad Road.       (c) No Waiting, No Loading or Unloading At Any Time in:         (i) Downham Way north side within 15 metres west of junction Reigate Road and 20 metres west of junction Downham Way;         (ii) Baring Road both sides within (approximately) 30 metres of junction Chinbrook Road, west side within (approximately) 30 metres of junction Downham Way, and east side within (approximately) 10 metres of Downham Way traffic signals;         (iii) Chinbrook Road within 50 metres of junction Baring Road.   Exemptions from the restrictions would include the carrying out of various statutory duties, stopping if required by law or to avoid an accident, fire authority, ambulance or police vehicles and anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.   A copy of the draft of the Orders and of plans giving more detailed particulars of the proposals, of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Orders and of the said 1990 Consolidation Order which would be amended, are available for inspection during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays, at the office of Lewisham Design Services (Development & Support), Laurence House, 2nd Floor, 1 Catford Road, London S.E.6 (telephone 0181 695 6000, extension 8203).   Any person wishing to object to the making of either Order should make representation in writing and which must include the grounds on which it is made to Lewisham Design Services (Ref. P. Sear), Laurence House, 2nd Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU, to arrive not later than 21 days from the date of publication of this notice. D.
