TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he has made a modified Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping-up of Highways (County of Durham) (No. 4) Order 1998”, authorising the stopping-up of lengths of highway at Thomas Street, Spennymoor, County Durham, to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted to Aldi Stores Ltd. by Sedgefield District Council on 6th February 1996, under Ref. 7/95/0473/DM, and subsequently amended on 12th August 1997 under Ref. 7/97/0314/DM.   Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Secretary of State at the offices of the Director Planning, Environment and Transport, Government Office for the North East, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4TD (quoting GO-NE/97/5053/35/02) and may be inspected at all reasonable hours at the offices of the Sedgefield District Council, Council Offices, Spennymoor, County Durham DL16 6JQ.   Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 26th March 1998, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein. The planning permission granted is for the erection of a retail food store, associated car parking and highway works.
