Amendment to the Clifton Village Conservation Area

Notice is hereby given that in accordance with section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, Nottingham City Council has amended the boundary of the Clifton Village Conservation Area as set out below.   The principle effects on properties now within the conservation area are as follows:   (1) subject to certain exceptions, buildings, or parts of buildings, within a conservation area may not be demolished without the prior consent of the City Council;   (2) trees in a conservation area are protected by the Act against cutting down, topping, lopping, uprooting, wilful damage or destruction.   A plan showing the amended boundary of the conservation area may be seen at the Development Department, Exchange Buildings, Smithy Row, Nottingham, between 8.30 a.m. and 4.45 p.m., on Mondays to Fridays.

Brief description of amended area

  The boundary has been amended to include the woodland area known as Clifton Wood with its respective curtilages and it departs from the former boundary at the fenced boundary with the grounds of Clifton Hall to the northeast, the boundary with the playing fields and fields to the southeast, the boundary with the track off Fox Covert Lane to the southwest, and the boundary lying along the base of the River Trent escarpment to the northwest.
