TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990
The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping up of Highways (County of Tyne and Wear) (No. 7) Order 1998” authorising the stopping-up of areas of highway in Sunderland City Centre, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with planning permissions granted to Leslie Jones Architect, by the Council of the City of Sunderland on 18th August 1997, under reference 97/00431/FUL and to the Business Manager, City Consultancy Services, by the Council of the City of Sunderland on 21st July 1997, under reference 97/00836/LAP. Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Secretary of State at the offices of the Director Planning, Environment and Transport, Government Office for the North East, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4TD, (quoting GO-NE/97/5038/35/19) and may be inspected at all reasonable hours at the offices of the Council of the City of Sunderland, Civic Centre, Burdon Road, Sunderland SR2 7DN. Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 3rd April 1998, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein. Schedule
The planning permission granted under Ref. 97/00431/FUL is for the extension to the Bridges Shopping Centre, comprising ships, stores, car parking, covered mall and ancillary accommodation and change of use from highway to retail development at land at Walworth Way/Crowtree Road/Vine Place/Green Terrace, Sunderland. The planning permission granted under Ref. 97/00836/LAP is for the construction of new three-story enclosure to allow relocation of reception to ground floor at Crowtree Leisure Centre, Crowtree Road, Sunderland.
