Proposed Stopping-up of a Highway at Barrowford, near Nelson, Lancashire

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that on the application of Lancashire County Council on behalf of Peel Investments (North) Limited, he proposes to make an Order under section 248 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 to authorise the stopping-up of a length of Parrock Road, Barrowford, near Nelson, from its junction with Barrowford Road, north-westwards for a distance of 30 metres in the interests of safety of users of, and to facilitate the movement of traffic on Barrowford Road (the main highway) a length of which is to be improved.   The main highway is to be improved to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted to Peel Investments (North) Limited, by Pendle Borough Council on 5th September 1996, under Ref. 13/95/0637P.   The proposed Order will provide for the provision of new highways and the improvement of existing highways.   Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours during the 28 days commencing on 3rd April 1998, at the offices of Pendle Borough Council, Traffic Management Section, Booth Street, Nelson, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Government Office for the North West (Transport) (quoting Ref. GO/TNW 5063/35/51) at the address stated below.   Any person may object to the making of the proposed Order within the period of 28 days commencing on 3rd April 1998, by notice to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, quoting the above reference, at the Government Office for the North West (Transport), Sunley Tower, Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1 4BE.   In preparing an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of it may be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and that those persons may wish to communicate with the objector about it.
