The following notice is in substitution for that which appeared on page 3803 of The London Gazette dated 2.4.98

SOUTH HAMS DISTRICT COUNCIL
District of South Hams (Off-Street Parking Places) (Amendment) Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the South Hams District Council propose to make the above-named Order in exercise of their powers under sections 35(1) (3) and (3A) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and paragraph 27 of the ninth Schedule to the Act and of all other enabling powers.   The effect of the above Order will be to amend the District of South Hams (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 1996 by:   (a) the deletion of the Schedule thereto and its substitution by a new Schedule introducing the following changes in respect of the car parks as indicated below by the relevant note (summer period means 1st May to 30th September unless otherwise stated):      Kingsbridge Car Parks:       Fore Street Car Park, notes A and B;       Quay Car Park (part), notes C and M;       Quay Car Park (part) and Cattle Market Car Park, note D.      Salcombe Car Parks:       Creek Car Park, note E for period 1st April to 30th September, closed at other times;       Creek Boat Park, new charges (with old charges in brackets) of £4.30 (£3.80) all day, £22.40 (£19.50) per week booked in advance, £30.50 (£26.50) per week otherwise, £230 (£200) April to September;       Shadycombe Car Park, note A for summer period, note B;       Whitestrand Car Park, note A for winter period, note F for summer period;       North Sands Car Park, note G.      Dartmouth Car Parks:       Mayors Avenue Car Park, long and short stay merged, with charges as per note C up to maximum of four hours, note K applies in summer period;       Park and Ride, all day charge amended from £2 to £2.50, £8 weekly ticket abolished, note J applies.      Totnes Car Parks:       Victoria Street, notes A and B;       Heath Way, note M applies to two areas;       Leechwell Street, note M applies to one area;       Old Market (Cistern Street) Car Park, note C;       Longmarsh, note G for summer period;       Longmarsh extension, coach parking abolished, note L, note G for summer period;       Steamer Quay, note G for summer period;       North Street Car Park, notes A, B and M;       Civic Hall Car Park, notes A and B;       Heaths Nursery Car Park, note C.      Slapton Line Car Parks:       Slapton Memorial Car Park, notes H and L;       Strete Gate Car Park, note G;       Torcross Village Layby, note L.      Ivybridge Car Parks:       Glanvilles Mill, notes A and B;       Harford Road Car Park, notes A, I and K;       Keaton Road Car Park, note A.      Modbury Car Parks:       Poundwell Street Car Park, notes A and B.      Bigbury-on-Sea Car Park, note E.      Weekly tickets, revised from £12 to £14, except Creek Boat Park, Mayors Avenue and Coronation Park.      Quarterly season tickets, abolished.      Annual season tickets, revised from £110 to £125.      Annual economy season tickets, revised from £32 to £50 (£30 for leisure members).      Annual reserved tickets, revised from £490 to £600.      Notes (duration in hours shown in brackets)     A. the reduction of the maximum stay from 3 hours to 2 hours;     B. amendment of summer charges only (ie 1st May to 30th September), from 20p (half), 40p (one), 70p (two), to 20p (half), 50p (one), £1 (two);     C. amendment of summer charges as in note B, plus the following, from £1 (three), £1.30 (four), £2.30 (all day), to £1.50 (three), £2 (four), £3 (all day);     D. amendment of charges (all year), from 20p (half), 40p (one), 50p (two, 70p (four), £1 (all day), to 20p (half), 40p (one), 70p (two), £1.00 (three), £1.30 (four), £2.30 (all day);       E. new scale of charges, £3 maximum (four), £4 maximum (all day) or such lower charges as the Council may order;       F. amendment of charges, from 20p (half), 50p (one), to 30p (half), 60p (one);       G. new scale of charges, £2 maximum (four), £3 maximum (all day) or such lower charges as the Council may order;       H. as note G but with 50p charge for one hour;       I. amendment of charges (all year), from 20p (half), 40p (one), 70p (two), to 10p (half), 20p (one), 70p (two);       J. weekly and annual season tickets become available;       K. annual season tickets cease to be available;       L. annual economy season tickets become available;       M. annual reserved tickets cease to be available.   (b) the removal/inclusion of the following parking places:     (i) Pavilion Car Park, Totnes, the aboliition of coach parking, and the introduction of an additional area as a short stay car park with charges of 20p (half), 40p (one), 70p (two), with annual season tickets being valid;     (ii) Aveton Gifford Car and Boat Park, introduction of an all-day car and boat park;   (c) the revision of the exemptions applicable to Disabled Person’s Badge holders so as to enable free parking for three hours in any car park.   Full details of the proposals, which are intended to come into effect on 23rd May 1998, are contained in the draft of the above-named Order which can be examined at Follaton House, Totnes on Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.   If you with to object to the proposed Order, you should send the grounds of your objection in writing to the Council’s Chief Technical Officer at Follaton House, Plymouth Road, Totnes, Devon TQ9 5NE, quoting Ref.
