The A6 Trunk Road (Church Road C198, Streatley Crossroads Roundabout ) Compulsory Purchase Order (No. PS     ) 199 

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of his powers under the above-mentioned Acts, has prepared a draft compulsory purchase Order, entitled as above, which he proposes to make, authorising him to purchase compulsorily the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purpose of:   (i)   the construction and improvement of highways and the provision of new means of access to premises in Streatley in the district of South Bedfordshire, in the county of Bedfordshire, in pursuance of the A6 Trunk Road (Church Road C198, Streatley Crossroads Roundabout Side Roads) Order 199 ;   (ii)  the improvement of the Trunk Road at Streatley Crossroads in the said district and county;   (iii) use by the Secretary of State in connection with such construction and improvement of highways and the execution of other works mentioned above.   Copies of the draft Compulsory Purchase Order and its accompanying plan, together with a copy of the published draft of the above-mentioned Side Roads Order and its plan, may be seen free of charge at all reasonable hours from 15th April until 27th May 1998, or within 6 weeks from the date of the first publication of this notice, if that period expires later, at the Highways Agency, Room 5/46A, St. Christopher House, London SE1 0TE; at the offices of the Highways Agency, Room 412, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL; at Bedfordshire County Council, County Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford MK42 9AP; South Bedfordshire District Council, The District Offices, High Street North, Dunstable LU6 1LF; and at the Sub-Post Office, 29 Bedford Road, Barton-le-Clay MK45 4LL.   Any objection to the draft Compulsory Purchase Order must be made in writing and addressed to the Secretary of State at the offices of the Highways Agency, Room 412, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL, not later than 27th May 1998, quoting Ref. 504212/8/A6/16 and stating the grounds of objection. In the preparation of an objection and the statement of grounds of objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.    Note. By virtue of The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions 1997 (S.I. 1997/2971), all functions of the Secretary of State for Transport were transferred to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions with effect from 26th January 1998. All property, rights and liabilities of the Secretary of State for Transport were transferred to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions on the same date. J. P.
