The A419/A417 Trunk Road (Blunsdon to Crickley Hill) (24 hours Clearway) Order 199

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) and (2) and 4(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers on the section of A419/A417 Trunk Road between Blunsdon in Wiltshire and Crickley Hill in Gloucestershire.   The effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from waiting at any time on a length of the A419/A417 Trunk Road, except in a layby, between a point 1,189 metres northwest of its juction with the B4019 road near Blunsdon and a point 60 metres east of the access to Crickley Hill Farm, Crickley Hill, and to prohibit trading on any verge or in any layby, except the Gloucester Beeches layby at Smiths Cross.   Exceptions have been provided in the Order to enable a vehicle to wait for so long as may be necessary for a person to board or alight from a vehicle, or to enable the vehicle to be used in connection with any building operation or demolition, the removal of any obstruction to traffic, the maintenance of the road or the services therein, or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes.   A copy of the proposed draft Order, together with a plan illustrating the proposal and a statement explaining the Secretary of State’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected during office hours at the offices of Wiltshire County Council, County Hall, Trowbridge; Swindon Borough Council, Euclid Street, Swindon, North Wiltshire District Council, Monkton Park, Chippenham; Gloucestershire County Council, Shire Hall, Bearland, Gloucester; Cotswold District Council, Trinity Road, Cirencester and Tewkesbury Borough Council, Gloucester Road, Tewkesbury or obtained by application to the Divisional Director, Network and Customer Services (South), at the address shown below.   Any person wishing to object to the proposal to make the Order should send, not later than 14th May 1998, or within 21 days of the date of publication of this notice, whichever is the later, to Divisional Director, Network and Customer Services (South), Tollgate House, Houlton Street, Bristol BS2 9DJ, quoting Ref. 9902/ A419/41/006, a written statement of his objection and the grounds thereof.
