Extension of the Bisley Conservation Area

Notice is hereby given that Stroud District Council has amended and enlarged the Bisley Conservation Area.   Maps of the revised area have been deposited at the offices of Stroud District Council, Ebley Mill, Westward Road, Stroud and may be inspected there during normal office hours.   The purpose of the designation is to preserve and enhance the character and appearance of this Area of Special Architectural or Historic Interest and to ensure that special regard is paid to the architectural and visual qualities of the designated area as a whole when proposals for development are under consideration. In accordance with Sections 211 and 212 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, and section 74 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, respectively, subject to certain exceptions, notice has to be given to the Local Planning Authority in respect of proposals to remove, uproot or destroy any trees in the designated area and consent is required for the demolition of all buildings in the designated area.   A brief summary of the designated area is as follows:   The extension involves eight additions and six adjustments.   The extensions are:    Back Lane/Stroud Road junctions, a pair of semi-detached 18th century cottages.    Land south of Paulmead Barn, recent property boundary changes.    Rectory Barn, original line indecisive and recent redevelopment.    Barn Piece, important open space essential to the setting and views into and out of the Area.    Vegetable gardens and cemetery east of Holloway Road, historically linked with village and conforms with identified character.    Land east of Far Wells Road and south-west of Joiners Lane (including Brattons), original line indecisive and conforms with identified character.    Land north-west of The Chantry (and within Chantry Plantation) original line indecisive.    Field adjoining and to the west of Wells Cottage, important to the immediate setting of the buildings in the Area.   The adjustments are:    Frontage to Village Hall, original line indecisive.    Cheltenham Road, original line indecisive.    Bisley Farm, original line indecisive.    Land west of Bisley Farm, original line indecisive.    Land north of Van der Breen Street, recent redevelopment.    Verge on the north side of Back Lane, original line indecisive.
