Notice of extension of Conservation Area: Colley Lane/Flanchford Road, Reigate
Notice is hereby given that on 17th April 1997, the Council of the Borough of Reigate and Banstead in pursuance of the provisions of section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, designated the above Conservation Area. Detailed plans can be inspected at the Council’s offices at the Town Hall, Castlefield Road, Reigate, Surrey, during the normal office hours for a period of 6 weeks from the date of this notice. A Conservation Area is an area of special architectural or historical interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. The effects of designating an area as a Conservation Area are: (a) no building or any part of a building, with a few exceptions, can be demolished without permission being first obtained from the local planning authority; (b) with a few exceptions it is unlawful, without first giving 6 weeks prior notice in writing to the local planning authority, to cut down, uproot, top, lop, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy any tree not already covered by a Tree Preservation Order; (c) planning applications for development which would, in the opinion of the local planning authority, affect the character or appearance of the Conservation Area will be given publicity and representations received in consequence will be taken into account in determining the application; and (d) the local planning authority is under a duty to formulate and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancement of the area.
