TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act, to authorise the stopping-up of an area of highway at and in the vicinity of 244-246 Stamfordham Road, Newcastle upon Tyne.   If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to North Eastern Co-operative by the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne on 30th March 1998, under Ref. DET/01/1439/97.   Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours during 28 days commencing on 22nd May 1998, at the offices of the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 8PD, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State at the offices of the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (quoting Ref. GO-NE/97/5038/35/26) at the address stated below.   Any person may object to the making of the proposed Order, within the period of 28 days commencing on 22nd May 1998, by notice to the Secretary of State, quoting the above reference, at the offices of the Director Planning, Environment and Transport, Government Office for the North East, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4TD.   In preparing an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of it may be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and that those persons may wish to communicate with the objector about it. Schedule

  The planning permission granted is for the erection of a two storey building comprising of car showroom, offices, parts warehouse and stores, provision of car parking and site for the display of used cars and associated landscaping to adjoining open space including diversion of public footpath as amended, by plans received 15th December 1997 and 4th February 1998.
