Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, Section 69
Dartford Town Centre, Greenhithe, Southfleet and Hook Green Conservation Areas
Notice is hereby given under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, section 69 that the Dartford Borough Council after consultation has determined that the boundaries of the 4 conservation areas described in the Schedule to this notice be formally revised. The effect of the variation to the boundaries of the conservation areas is as follows: (1) Conservation area consent will now be required for the demolition of all unlisted buildings (other than excepted buildings) in the area; (2) Planning applications for development which would in the opinion of the local planning authority affect the character or appearance of the conservation area must be given publicity and representations received as a result of the publicity must be taken into account in determining the application; (3) It becomes an offence subject to certain exceptions to cut down, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy any tree in the area except with the consent of the local planning authority; (4) The local planning authority remain under a duty to formulate and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancement of the area. Maps of the revised boundaries of the conservation areas may be inspected, free of charge, during normal office hours at the office of the local planning authority at Civic Centre, Home Gardens, Dartford DA1 1DR. Schedule
Dartford Town Centre, comprising the historic core of the town including the High Street and adjoining properties, and running from the junction of West Hill and King Edward Avenue, to St. Edmund’s Churchyard, East Hill. Greenhithe, comprising the eastern part of the High Street, Pier Road and the northern end of The Avenue and including the land between the riverfront and the wooded land to the south. Southfleet, incorporating the core of the village, centred around the Church of St. Nicholas, and including parts of Green Road, Church Street, Dale Road, Warren Road and Red Street. Hook Green, on the southern edge of Southfleet village, centred around Hook Green Farm and Hook Place Farm, Hook Green Road. 25th June 1998.
