WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981: SECTION 29
Notice is hereby given that on 22nd June 1998, the Secretary of State for Wales acting under section 29 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, made the Porth Celriad Nature Conservation Order 1998. This Order applies to section 29(3) of the Act to the land described in Schedule 1 to the Order and specifies the operations described in Schedule 2 to the Order which appear to the Secretary of State likely to destroy or damage the grassland community, the Portland spurge population and the breeding chough population, by reason of which the site is of special scientific interest and of national importance. The general effect of the Order is to prohibit any person from carrying out the operations specified in Schedule 2 to the Order on the land described in Schedule 1. In certain circumstances this prohibition does not apply. These circumstances are set out in section 29 of the Act. The Order took effect when it was made and will cease to have effect 9 months after it was made unless the Secretary of State previously gives notice that he has considered it and does not propose to amend or revoke it or that he has amended or revoked it. Representations about or objections to the Order may be made to the Secretary of State for Wales, Environment 4, Welsh Office, Cardiff CF1 3NQ, before 27th July 1998. They should be in writing and should state the title of the Order. In the case of objections, the grounds on which they are made should be stated. Copies of the Order and the map referred to in it have been deposited at the offices of the Countryside Council for Wales, Bryn Menai, Holyhead Road, Bangor LL57 2JA. They may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours. L. A. Dobbins, Environment Division, Welsh Office 22nd June 1998.
