Highway at Sun Street, Cheadle, Staffordshire

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled The Stopping-up of Highways (County of Staffordshire) (No. 8) Order 1998” authorising the stopping-up of part of Sun Street, Cheadle, Staffordshire, and the improvement of existing highway shown as cross hatched on the deposited plan.   The Order as made, will authorise the stopping-up only to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, on 29th May 1997, under Ref. SM.97-0218.   Copies of this Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Government Office for the West Midlands at the offices of the Director, Planning, Transport and the Environment, 77 Paradise Circus, Queensway, Birmingham B1 2DT (quoting Ref. 5074/35/1/96) and may be inspected at all reasonable hours at Cheadle Branch Library, Leek Road, Cheadle, Staffordshire.   Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 5th August 1998, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein.   Erection of supermarket (incorporating ancillary customer restaurant) partial demolition of existing building (the rear of the Catholic Guildhall), provision of ancillary parking, highway improvements, development of public car park and creation of three small shop units within the remaining part of the Guildhall at Tate Street/Well Street/Sun Street, Cheadle.
