ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL

The Isle of Wight Council acting in their capacity as Coast Protection Authority, hereby give notice under subsection (i) of section 5 of the above Act that they propose to carry out coast protection works as described herein at Wheelers Bay, Ventnor, Isle of Wight.
  The work will consist of the construction of a new rock armour frontline defence across the mouth of the bay. Mass chalk fill will be placed behind the rock, the promenade re-constructed and other associated land drainage and soil nailing carried out.
  The estimated cost of the work is £750,000.
  Any person may, not later than 12th October 1998, serve a written notice of objection to the proposal on the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and on the above-mentioned authority. Any such notice must contain a statement of the grounds of objection and must be sent by pre-paid post to Flood and Coastal Defence Division, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Eastbury House, 30-34 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7TL and the Chief Executive of the authority on the address shown below.
