TRANSPORT AND WORKS ACT 1992 RAILTRACK (LEEDS BRIDGES) ORDER
Notice is hereby given that application is being made by Railtrack PLC to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR, for an Order under sections 1 and 5 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for purposes of which the following is a concise summary: 1. To authorise the reconstruction and widening of the railway bridges over the A58 (Gelderd Road/former Spence Lane), Whitehall Road and Globe Road in the City of Leeds in connection with the remodelling and resignalling of the western rail approaches to Leeds City Station under powers conferred by the British Railways Act 1993; temporary stopping-up of streets during the construction of the bridge works and the stopping-up, use and thereafter, the diversion of a footpath at Globe Road. 2. To provide for the compulsory acquisition of land and rights in land for the intended works; extinction or suspension of rights of way over land to be acquired or used; appropriation of the subsoil of or airspace over streets; temporary possession of land for construction purposes and to make provision for compensation payable on the acquisition or use of land. 3. To provide for the entering into agreements with the street authority with respect to the construction of or interference with streets; and discharge of water in connection with the construction or maintenance of the authorised works. 4. To incorporate, with or without modification, provisions of the Railways Clauses Acts, to apply with modifications Part I of the Compulsory Purchase Act 1965 and to make other ancillary provision including the repeal of certain local enactments relating to the railway bridges. And Notice is further given that: (a) in respect of the development described above application is being made to the Secretary of State for deemed planning permission subject to the reservation of certain specified matters for subsequent approval by the local planning authority; (b) a waiver direction has been given by the Secretary of State under rule 12 of the Transport and Works (Applications and Objections Procedure) Rules 1992 and is one of the documents submitted with the application; (c) a copy of the application and of all documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, from 6th October until 17th November 1998, at the Travel Centre, Leeds City Station, Leeds, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday; (d) any person may object to the making of the Order by giving notice in writing in the period from 6th October to 17th November 1998, to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, c/o The TWA Processing Unit, Zone 3/11 Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR, and stating the grounds of objection.
