Honours and Awards
Her Majesty The Queen has been graciously pleased to approve that the Légion d’Honneur bestowed by the Government of the French Republic on those surviving United Kingdom citizens who participated on French soil in the 1914-18 War may be accepted and worn without restriction. In reaching this decision Her Majesty The Queen has had in mind the wish of the French Government on the 80th anniversary of the end of the Great War to render homage, while this is still possible, to those who were the allies and comrades-in-arms of France in that tragic conflict.
In relation to Second World War and subsequent anniversary awards, the decision set out in The London Gazette of 4th January 1994 still stands.
