Notice is hereby given that under section 69 of the above Act the Wokingham District Council (hereinafter called “the Council”) has determined that the area shown edged black on plan No. AC9/98 (hereinafter referred to as “the plan”) deposited at the offices of the Council is an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance and has designated the area as a Conservation Area. The area referred to above shall be known as the Arborfield Cross Conservation Area.   The areas referred to above the following properties and curtilages:   Newland Farm Buildings.   The Cottage and Lych Gate Cottage.   The Bull Inn.   The Grassed Verge immediately fronting the intersection of the Eversley Road, Reading Road, Swallowfield Road and B3030 including the War Memorial.   Canka House.   Nos. 1-3 School Road.   The Old Post Office, Eversley Road.   Birch House, Eversley Road.   Garage and Magnolia Cottage, Eversley Road.   The Village Hall, Eversley Road.   Sun Rise, Eversley Road.   The Swan Inn, Eversley Road.   No. 1 Model Cottage, Eversley Road.   No. 2 Eversley Road.   Milehams Cottage, Eversley Road.   The map referred to above may be inspected during normal office hours at the Council Offices, Shute End, Wokingham.   The consequences of the designation are that:   1. The demolition of certain buildings is brought within listed building control;   2. Any person proposing to do work on trees in the area is required to give six weeks prior notification to the local planning authority of their intention, unless the trees are already protected by a Tree Preservation Order, in which case an application for consent will be required.   3. The authority comes under a duty to formulate and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancement of the area.   4. Planning applications for development which would in the opinion of the local planning authority, affect the character of appearance of the conservation area must be given publicity and representations received in consequence taken into account in determining the application.   5. Permitted development rights under the general development order are more restricted than in other areas. T. E.
