Coast Protection
ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL
The Isle of Wight Council, acting in their capacity as coast protection authority, hereby give notice under subsection (I) of section 5 of the above Act that they propose to carry out coast protection works as described herein at Seagrove Bay, Isle of Wight. The work will consist of construction of approximately 185 metres of reinforced concrete seawall and encasement promenade and rear splash wall. Supply and placement of rock armour for a 185 metre long rock revetment and four rock groynes with associated stepped and ramped access and the construction of an 85 metre long raised timber walkway. The estimated cost of the work is £750,000. Any person may, not later than 27th November 1998, serve a written notice of objection to the proposal on the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and on the above-mentioned authority. Any such notice must contain a statement of the grounds of objection and must be sent by pre-paid post to Flood and Coastal Defence with Emergencies Division, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Eastbury House, 30-34 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7TL, and the Acting Head of Paid Services of the authority at the address shown below.
