NOTICE PUBLISHED BY THE SECRETARY OF STATE UNDER SECTION 7(7) OF THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACT 1984

The Secretary of State hereby gives notice that on 27th August 1999 he granted a Class Licence for the Running of Telecommunication Systems for the Provision of Access Control Services under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act 1984. The Licence replaces the access control provisions in some existing individual licences and in the Class Licence to run Branch Systems to provide Telecommunications Service granted by the Secretary of State under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act 1984, of 31st December 1997. The Licence entered into force on 31st August 1999, and will be for a period of 25 years subject to earlier revocation in circumstances specified in Schedule 2 of the Licence. The text of the Licence is available on the DTI website at www.dti.gov.uk/cii/licences. Copies of the licence are also available at a charge of £4 from the OFTEL Research and Intelligence Unit, 50 Ludgate Hill, London EC4M 7JJ (telephone no. 0171-634 8761). OFTEL are in the process of revising guidance on Regulated Supplier determinations to be made under this Licence.
