NOTICE OF DESIGNATION OF FORDINGBRIDGE; FRITHAM; LYNDHURST (BANK), LYNDHURST (EMERY DOWN); LYNDHURST (SWAN GREEN) AND MINSTEAD AS CONSERVATION AREAS
Notice is hereby given, that on 17th February 1999, the New Forest District Council acting as local planning authority, made a determination under the provisions of section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 in respect of land described generally in this notice, designating the areas as Conservation Areas, as defined by the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990. The areas were previously designated as Conservation Areas and these designations follow a review of the boundaries of the areas. The effects briefly of designations are as follows: 1. the local planning authority comes under a duty to pay special attention to the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area; 2. the demolition of buildings in the area (with certain exceptions) requires the consent of the local planning authority; 3. trees in the area may not (with certain exceptions) be cut down, topped, lopped, uprooted, wilfully damaged or wilfully destroyed; 4. permitted development rights under the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order are more restricted than in other areas; 5. the right to display certain types of illuminated advertisement without express consent is excluded; 6. specific statutory duties are imposed on telecommunications operators. Fordingbridge Land includes the town centre from its southern end at 77 Church Street and Yew Tree Court, comprising Church Street, Provost Street (including Town Mill), Shaftsbury Street, up to the Police Station and Westgrove, parts of West Street, High Street, Bridge Street, Roundhill and Salisbury Street up to No. 53, and Burgate Lodge. It also includes the Infirmary, Bartons Road, Parsonage House, Parsonage Farm, Cottage Mews and 45 Green Lane. Fritham Land includes all the settlement of Fritham and surrounding enclosed land up to the open forest boundary. Lyndhurst (Bank) Land includes most of the settlement of Bank up to and including The Lodge in the north. The Cottage and Dell Cottage in the south and Little Deerhurst in the east. Lyndhurst (Emery Down) Land includes most of the settlement from all of Silver Street and Northerwood Lodge in the east, to Home Farm and Yew Tree House in the north and to Holly Lodge in the west. Lyndhurst (Swan Green) Land includes the green, Swann Inn, Cuffnells Lodge, and properties to the north and east of the green and Swann Inn. Minstead Land includes most of the village of Minstead, comprising the areas of Minstead village centre; London Minstead, up to and including Minstead Lodge, Malwood and A31 in the north-west; up to and including Suters Cottage and Perrys Farm in the north-east; the area of Football Green up to and including Brock Farm, Golden Croft and Duell’s Farm; up to and including Mill Lane Farm and Sylvan in the south-east: Minstead Rural Studies Centre, The Splash, Fleetwater Cottage and Fleetwater Houses in the south-west; and Clayhayes, Frogs Island, Furzey Gardens and Minstead House in the west. The boundaries of the Conservation Areas are more particularly shown on plans available for Inspection at Planning Reception, New Forest District Council, Appletree Court, Lyndhurst, Hampshire between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.
