ALLIED COLLOIDS LIMITED PENSION SCHEME

PURSUANT TO SECTION 27 OF THE TRUSTEE ACT 1925

The Trustees of the Allied Colloids Limited Pension Scheme (“the Scheme”) are finialising the wind up of the Scheme. While the Trustees have contacted all known Members of the Scheme, any other persons having a claim or interest in the Scheme, or who were employed by Allied Colloids Limited, or any of the participating employers listed below, (in each case the “Company”) prior to 1st January 1999, and who consider that they may have a claim or interest in the Scheme, are required to send particulars in writing of such claim or interest to the Trustees, c/o Mr. J. E. Flitton, Ciba Specialty Chemicals PLC, Macclesfield, Cheshire SK10 2NX. In addition, any person who was employed on a part-time basis by the Company, who considers that his or her exclusion from the Scheme may have constituted indirect discrimination, and who has not received correspondence from the Company or the Trustees should also contact the Trustees. All replies to this notice must be received on or before 5th January 2000. After this date, the Trustees will proceed to dissolve the trusts of the Scheme, and any claims of which the Trustees have then had notice will be referred to CIBA Specialty Chemicals (UK) Pension Trust Limited, Trustee of the CIBA Specialty Chemicals (UK) Pension Scheme, to which all of the assets and liabilities of the Scheme were transferred on 1st January 1999. Neither the Trustees of the Scheme nor CIBA Specialty Chemicals (UK) Pension Trust Limited shall be liable for the assets of the Scheme or any part of them not allocated to any person or persons of whose claims or demands they have not had notice. Notification is not required from persons who are currently in receipt of a pension from the Scheme, or who have received correspondence relating to this Scheme from the Trustees or the Company. Other Companies which participated in the Scheme are Allied Colloids Group Plc, Bilton Hutchinson Limited, Interlates Limited, Atlas Interlates Limited, Low Moor Securities Limited, Allied Colloids Manufacturing Company Limited, Chemiquip Limited and Alcotech Limited.
