THE A6 TRUNK ROAD (CLAPHAM BYPASS) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER (NO. PS10) 2000

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the above-mentioned Acts, on 17th March 2000, made a compulsory purchase Order, entitled as above. The Order as made provides for the purchase of: (a) the land and rights described in Schedule 1, hereto for the purpose of: (i) the consturction of new trunk roads at Clapham in the Borough of Bedford in the county of Bedfordshire in pursuance of the A6 Trunk Road, (Clapham Bypass) Order 1992 (SI 1992/3354); (ii) the construction and improvement of highways and the provision of new means of access to premises in the said borough and county in pursuance of the A6 Trunk Road (Clapham Bypass Side Roads) Order 1992, as varied by the A6 Trunk Road (Clapham Bypass Side Roads) Order 1992 (Variation) Order 1995; (iii) the improvement of the A6 Trunk Road; (iv) the diversion of watercourses and the execution of other works on watercourses in connection with the construction of the said new trunk roads and the execution of other works mentioned above; and (v) use by the Secretary of State in connection with such construction and improvement of highways and provision of private means of access and the execution of other works mentioned above. (b) the land described in Schedule 2 hereto for the purpose of mitigating any adverse effect which the existence or use of certain of the highways proposed to be constructed or improved by him as mentioned above will have on the surroundings thereof. Copies of the Order as made by the Secretary of State and of the plan referred to therein, together with copies of the above mentioned Trunk Road Order, Side Roads Order and Side Roads Variation Order (with their accompanying plans), have been deposited and may be seen at all reasonable hours from 30th March 2000, to 12th May 2000, at the offices of the Highways Agency, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL, of Bedfordshire County Council, County Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, and of Bedford Borough Council, Town Hall, St. Paul’s Square, Bedford, and at the Post Office, in Dane Street, Bedford, and at the Sub Post Offices, at 48 High Street, Clapham, 39 High Street, Oakley, and at 78 Village Road, Bromham. The Order as made becomes operative on the date on which this notice is first published, but a person aggrieved by the Order may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks from the operative date, question its validity on the grounds: (i) that the authorisation granted by the Order is not empowered to be granted, or (ii) that his interests have been substantially prejudiced by failure to comply with any statutory requirement relating to the Order.
