TRANSPORT AND WORKS ACT 1992

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions gives notice, pursuant to section 14(1)(b) of the Transport and Works Act 1992 (“the Act”), that he has determined under section 13(1) of the Act to make with modifications the Great Central Railway (East Leake Branch etc.) Order 2000 (“the Order”) forthwith after the publication of this notice and it will come into force 21 days after it has been made. The Order was applied for jointly by Great Central Railway (Nottingham) Limited of the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre, Mere Way, Ruddington, Nottinghamshire and Great Central Railway plc of Loughborough Central Station, Loughborough, Leicestershire. The Order authorises: (a) the transfer of existing railways in the borough of Rushcliffe, county of Nottinghamshire and the borough of Charnwood, county of Leicestershire (described in the Order as “Railway No. 1” and “Railway No. 2”) from Railtrack PLC to Great Central Railway (Nottingham) Limited or an associated company of that Company; and (b) the construction and maintenance of a new railway (“Railway No. 3”), around 182 metres length, in the borough of Charnwood.
