At the Court at Buckingham Palace the 15th day of November 2000 Present, The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council Whereas by the Civil Service Order in Council 1995 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”) provision was made relating to the appointment of persons to situations in Her Majesty’s Home Civil Service and for regulating the conduct of Her Majesty’s Home Civil Service and the conditions therein; And Whereas by the Civil Service (Amendment) Order in Council 1999 provision was made relating to the appointment of persons to situations in Her Majesty’s Home Civil Service for the purpose only of providing advice to a Member of the Scottish Executive or to the Assembly First Secretary or an Assembly Secretary of the National Assembly for Wales: And Whereas it is expedient to make further provision for Her Majesty’s Home Civil Service in relation to the matters aforesaid: Now, therefore, Her Majesty is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:— 1. In Article 3(5) of the principal Order, which was inserted by Article 2 of the Civil Service (Amendment) Order in Council 1999, the word “six” shall be substituted for the word “four”. 2. (1) This Order may be cited as the Civil Service (Amendment) Order in Council 2000 and shall come into force forthwith. (2) The Interpretation Act 1978(a) shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament. A. K. Galloway (a) 1978 c. 30. Explanatory Note (This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the Civil Service Order in Council 1995 (as amended by the Civil Service (Amendment) Order in Council 1999) so as to increase from four to six the number of situations which may be held at any time for the purpose only of providing advice to the Assembly First Secretary or an Assembly Secretary of the National Assembly for Wales.
