THE GRANTHAM MID-LENT FAIR ORDER 2001
THE FAIRS ACT 1873 (36 AND 37 VICT. C. 37)

WHEREAS the fair of Grantham commonly known as the Mid-Lent Fair (“the Fair”) is used to be held in Grantham on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday following the fifth Sunday of Lent, and representation has been duly made to the Secretary of State by South Kesteven District Council, being the owner of the Fair, that it would be for the convenience and advantage of the public that the Fair be held in each year on the fifth Sunday of Lent and the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday following. AND WHEREAS notice of the said representation and of the time when the same would be taken into consideration by the Secretary of State has been duly given and published in pursuance of section 6 of the Fairs Act 1873 as modified by section 27 of the Local Government Act 1984 (56 and 57 Vict. c. 73): AND WHEREAS it appears to the Secretary of State, after considering the said representation, that it would be for the convenience and advantage of the public that the Fair be held in each year on the fifth Sunday of Lent and the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday following. NOW THEREFORE, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the power conferred on him by section 6 of the Fairs Act 1873, hereby orders that the fair of Gantham commonly known as the Mid-Lent Fair shall be held in each year on the fifth Sunday of Lent and the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday following.
