TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 252 (4) of the above Act, a local public inquiry will be held at Crawley Town Hall, The Boulevard, Crawley starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, 19th June 2001. The inquiry is in connection with the proposal by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act to authorise the stopping-up of two areas of highway at Spencers Road, an area of highway at Ifield Road, an area of highway at Victoria Road, and an area of highway at Robinson Road, all at Crawley, in the county of West Sussex and the objections which have been received by him to that proposal. The Inquiry will be held jointly with the inquiry into the Crawley Borough Council (Spencers Road/Robinson Road) Compulsory Purchase Order 2000. The effect of the Order would be to enable construction of a class A1 retail store (7,585M2), 56 residential flats, 18 residential houses and ancillary retail units (461M2) with associated car parking, formation of access, servicing and associated works to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to ASDA Stores Limited by Crawley Borough Council on 4th December 2000 under Ref. CR/1999/0538/FUL. The Secretary of State has appointed Mr. R. Merelie MSc DipTP MRTPI as Inspector to hold this inquiry. (Ref. GOSE/029/001/CRAW/011).
