At the Court at Buckingham Palace the 11th day of December 2001 Present, The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council WHEREAS by the Civil Service Order in Council 1995(a) (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”) provision was made relating to the appointment of persons to situations in Her Majesty’s Home Civil Service and for regulating the conduct and conditions of service of Her Majesty’s Home Civil Service: AND WHEREAS it is expedient to make further provision for Her Majesty’s Home Civil Service in relation to these matters: NOW, THEREFORE, Her Majesty is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:- 1. Article 6 of the principal Order(b) shall be amended by the insertion, after paragraph (g) of Article 6(1) of: “(h) where the person is defined as being a disabled person or as having a disability by or under any enactment relating to the employment of disabled persons and the person is a participant in a government scheme to promote the employment of disabled persons.” Citation etc 2. This Order may be cited as the Civil Service (Amendment) Order in Council 2001 and shall come into force forthwith. 3. The Interpretation Act 1978(c) shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament. Explanatory Note (This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the principal Order so as to include in the appointments which the Commissioners may except under Article 6(1) an appointment of a disabled person (as defined in this Order) who participates in a government scheme to promote the employment of disabled persons.
