At the Court at Buckingham Palace the 22nd day of May 2002 Present, The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council WHEREAS the Secretary of State for the Home Department, after giving ten days’ previous notice of his intention to do so, has, under the provisions of the Burial Act 1853, as amended by subsequent enactments, made representations to Her Majesty in Council that, subject to the exceptions specified in the provisions below, burials should be discontinued forthwith in the following places, namely: 1. Church Lane Cemetery, Haddenham, Cambridgeshire; 2. St Wilfred’s Churchyard, Halton, Lancashire; 3. The Churchyard of St John the Baptist, Hartford, Northwich, Cheshire; 4. St Mary’s detached Churchyard, Church Farm, Shinfield, Reading, Berkshire. Provided that burial may be allowed in the places numbered 2, 3 and 4 above, in any earthen grave now existing therein, of the body of any member of the family of the person or persons heretofore buried in such grave, subject to the condition that no part of the coffin containing the body shall be at a depth less than one metre below the level of the surface of the ground adjoining the grave. NOW, THEREFORE, Her Majesty in Council is pleased hereby to give notice of such representations and to order that the same be taken into consideration by a Committee of the Privy Council on the 1st day of July 2002. And Her Majesty is further pleased to direct that this Order be forthwith published in The London Gazette, and that copies thereof be affixed on the doors of the Churches or Chapels of, or on some conspicuous places within, the places affected by such representations one month before the said 1st day of July 2002.
