NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that Wm Youngs and Son (Farms) Ltd., of Sankence, Cawston Road, Aylsham, Norwich, Norfolk NR11 6UW, are applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from underground strata (chalk) at National Grid Reference TG 161 250. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 90 cubic metres per hour, 1,980 cubic metres per day and 100,000 cubic metres, between 1 April and 31 October each year. The water will be used for spray irrigation and compensation discharge to the Mermaid Stream. This licence is to replace without change to the quantities licenced (or rate of abstraction) the abstraction authorised by licence number 7/34/6/G/244 which expired on 31 October 2002. Wm Youngs and Son (Farms) Ltd., are also applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from underground strata (chalk) at Frogshall Farm, Aylsham, Norfolk at National Grid Reference TG 1711 2508. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 110 cubic metres per hour, 2,420 cubic metres per day and 135,000 cubic metres between 1 April and 31 October each year. The water will be used for spray irrigation and compensation discharge to the Mermaid Stream at National Grid Reference TG 170 248. This licence is to replace without change to the quantities licenced (or rate of abstraction) the abstraction authorised by licence number 7/34/06/*G/0294 which will expire on 31 October 2004. If the above applications to renew 7/34/6/G/244 and 7/34/06/*G/0294 are determined successfully then the abstractions from Warren Lake and Stourton Water (7/34/06/*S/0129A) shall be suspended for the period of the new licences and reinstated upon the expiry, A copy of the applications and any maps, plans and any other documents submitted with it may be inspected free of charge at all reasonable hours at Sankence, Cawston Road, Aylsham, Norwich, Norfolk NR11 6UW, between 9 December 2002 and 9 January 2003.
