WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
DECLARATION OF NATURE RESERVE SUFFOLK COAST, COUNTY OF SUFFOLK
Notice is hereby given, in pursuit of section 35(1)(b) of the above-mentioned Act, that by the Suffolk Coast Nature Reserve No 1 Declaration made on 24 January 2003 English Nature declared that the land, having a total area of 177.4 ha or thereabouts situated in the parishes of Blythburgh and Dunwich and shown shaded in grey on the map attached to the said Declaration and that the land known as Walberswick National Nature Reserve, having a total area of 488 ha or thereabouts situated in the parishes of Walberswick, Blythburgh and Dunwich, shown cross hatched on the map attached to the said Declaration is held by English Nature. In pursuit of section 35(1)(c) of the above-mentioned Act by the Suffolk Coast Nature Reserve No 1 Declaration English Nature declared that the land, known as the Hen Reedbed, having a total area of 42.92 ha, in the parishes of Reydon, Wangford & Henham and Blythburgh in the county of Suffolk and shown as horizontal hatching on the map attached to the said Declaration is being held by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, a body approved by English Nature and secondly that the land, known as the Dingle Marshes Reserve, having a total area of 274.17 ha, in the parish of Westleton and Dunwich in the county of Suffolk and shown as diagonal hatching on the map attached to the said Declaration is being held by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the Suffolk Wildlife Trust which are approved bodies for the purposes of section 35 aforesaid. And that English Nature further declared that the aforementioned land is being managed as a nature reserve by the aforementioned bodies and is to be known henceforth as the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve. Notice is hereby given in pursuit of section 35(1)(b) of the above-mentioned Act that by the Suffolk Coast Nature Reserve No 1 Declaration made on 24 January 2003, English Nature declared that the land, having a total area of 23.9 ha or thereabouts situated in the parishes of Blythburgh and Walberswick and shown as diagonal cross hatching on the map attached to the said Declaration has ceased to be held and managed as a nature reserve by English Nature. Certified copies of the Suffolk Coast Nature Reserve No 1 Declaration have been deposited for public inspection, free of charge, during normal office hours at the offices of Suffolk County Council in Ipswich and Suffolk Coastal District Council at Woodbridge and at the office of English Nature at Regent House, 110 Northgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. 24 January 2003.
