NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Notice is hereby given that an application is being made to the Environment Agency—South West Region by Thames Water Utilities Ltd, Clearwater Court, Vastern Road, Reading, Berkshire RG1 8DB, to renew a licence (licence number 13/43/24/G114) to abstract water from underground strata (Upper and Middle Chalk) at Tidworth, in the parishes of North Tidworth and South Tidworth in the counties of Wiltshire and Hampshire. The water will be abstracted from the existing boreholes at National Grid Refs SU 2361 4870, SU 2336 4874, SU 2340 4857 and SU 2215 4932.The application is to renew the licence at the existing rates which are: 12,000 cubic metres per day and 3,294,000 cubic metres per year (equivalent to an average of 9,000 cubic metres per day). The water will be used for private water supply in and around the Tidworth area. There will be no increase in the amount of water that is licensed for abstraction. A copy of the application and of any map, plan or other document submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at North Tidworth Post Office, Tidworth, Wiltshire SP9 7LD, at all reasonable hours during the period beginning on Thursday 17 April 2003 and ending on Monday 19 May 2003.
