NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that S J Sizer & Company, of Russell Farm, Sedge Fen, Lakenheath, Suffolk IP27 9LF, are applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from two boreholes in the chalk underground strata at National Grid Refs TL 6848 8360 and TL 6843 8360, Lakenheath parish, Forest Heath district, Suffolk. The proposal is to abstract water from borehole No 1 at TL 6848 8360 at 14 cubic metres per hour, 91 cubic metres per day and 12,000 cubic metres per year for spray irrigation purposes between 1 April and 31 October each year. To also abstract water from borehole No 2 at TL 6843 8360 at 7 cubic metres per hour, 35 cubic metres per day and 5,000 cubic metres per year for agriculture other than spray irrigation purposes at any time throughout the year. The application is for renewal of licence serial No 6/33/39/G/324 which expires on 31 July 2003, with changes in the purpose of use of water and periods of abstraction. A copy of the application and any map, plans or other documents may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Russell Farm, Sedge Fen, Lakenheath, Suffolk IP27 9LF, between 3 July 2003 and 31 July 2003. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so, in writing, to the Environment Agency, Bromholme Lane, Brampton, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire PE28 4NE, before the end of the said period quoting the name of the applicant.
