NOTICE OF DESIGNATION OF CONSERVATION AREA
PLANNING (LISTED BUILDING AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990, SECTION 69
ALDERSHOT MILITARY TOWN CONSERVATION AREA
Notice is given under the provisions of the 1990 Act that Rushmoor Borough Council has determined that the area described in the Schedule to this notice is an area of special architectural or historic interest, and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance its character or appearance. It has accordingly designated the area as a “conservation area.” The principal effects of this area being designated as a conservation area are as follows: The Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area. Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any building in the area. Six weeks notice must be given to the Council before works are carried out to any tree in the area. Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area. In carrying out any functions under the planning Acts (and in particular, in determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent), the Council and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area. Schedule The conservation area runs westward from the junction of Hurst Road with Ordnance Road along the Hospital Ridge to the junction of Knollys Road with the A325 Farnborough Road. It continues north-east from the ridge along Queens Avenue, incorporating Montgomery Lines and Queens Parade, until it meets Lynchford Road. Schedule 1, attached, provides a list of buildings that are within the designated conservation area boundary. Due to the nature of the conservation area, interested parties are advised to contact the Local Planning Authority to obtain a plan of the designated boundary. Further information regarding conservation areas may be obtained from Rushmoor Borough Council, Planning Services, Council Offices, Farnborough Road, Farnborough, Hampshire GU14 7JU.
