St Martin-in-the-Fields Church

For the Vicar and Parochial Church Council of St Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Trafalgar Square, London WC2, notice is hereby given pursuant to section 17 of the Care of Churches etc Measure 1991 that a Petition for Faculty has been submitted on 21 October 2003 to the Consistory Court of the Church of England Diocese of London for works of which the following is a summary:
A programme of works including: the conservation of the exterior and interior fabric; reordering of the chancel; alteration to the churchyard to allow widening of adjacent Church Path, with new Crypt entrance and lightwell and associated improved access facilities into and within the church.
Works include demolition of burial vaults with new structural openings into Gibbs’ Crypt. In place of the parts to be demolished, a new, deeper basement will be reconstructed (approximately 800 square metres larger).
