DECLARATION OF NATIONAL NATURE RESERVE
PARISHES OF WITHERSLACK AND CROSTHWAITE AND LYTH, COUNTY OF CUMBRIA
Notice is hereby given, in pursuance of section 35 of the Wildlife and Countryside
Act 1981, that by the Whitbarrow National Nature Reserve No 3 Declaration 2004 made
on 12 July 2004, English Nature declared that the land containing 138.44 hectares
or thereabouts situated in the parishes of Witherslack and Crosthwaite and Lyth in
the county of Cumbria and shown yellow on the plan attached to the said Declaration,
is being held partly by Cumbria Wildlife Trust, partly by Forestry Commission and
partly by Lake District National Park Authority, bodies approved by English Nature,
and managed as a nature reserve.
This declaration is additional to the land previously declared, which is shown single
hatched and shaded yellow on the attached maps.
Notice is hereby given, in pursuance of section 19 of the National Parks and Access
to the Countryside Act 1949 and section 35 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981,
that by the Whitbarrow National Nature Reserve No 3 Declaration 2004, made on 12 July
2004, English Nature declared that the land containing 0.57 hectares or thereabouts
situated in the parish of Crosthwaite and Lyth in the county of Cumbria and shown
single hatched and unshaded on the plan attached to the said Declaration (which land
was included in the Whitbarrow Nature Reserve No 2 Declaration 1998 made by the Nature
Conservancy Council for England on 11 September 1998), is not held by Forestry Commission
and managed as a nature reserve.
Certified copies of the Whitbarrow National Nature Reserve No 2 Declaration 2004
have been deposited for public inspection, free of charge, during normal office hours
at the offices of Cumbria County Council, Lake District National Park Authority, at
Kendal and Grange-over-Sands libraries and at the offices of English Nature at Murley
Moss, Kendal and Northminster House, Peterborough.
