THE LEWISHAM AND SOUTHWARK (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) (NO 2) TRAFFIC ORDER 2004
1. Notice is hereby given that Lewisham Council, with the consent of the Borough of
Southwark, made these two orders under the provisions of section 84 of the Road Traffic
Regulation Act 1984 on 20 December 2004. Both orders come into force on 10 January
2005.
2. The general nature and effect of the two orders is respectively to impose a 20
mph maximum speed limit on vehicles being driven on these roads in the Telegraph Hill
vicinity of New Cross:
(1) Arbuthnot Road, Aspinall Road between Drakefell Road and the railway line, Bousfield
Road, Dennett’s Grove, Dennett’s Road, Drakefell Road, Endwell Road north-west and
north of Mantle Road, Erlanger Road, Gellatly Road, Jerningham Road, Kitto Road east
of Drakefell Road and Gellatly Road, Lausanne Road, Mona Road, Musgrove Road, Ommaney
Road, Pendrell Road, Pepys Road north of the road-over-rail bridge between Drakefell
Road and Seymour Gardens, Reservoir Road, Rutt’s Terrace, St Catherine’s Drive, Sandbourne
Road, Sherwin Road, Sprules Road, Swallow Close, Troutbeck Road, Vesta Road west of
the road-over-rail bridge between Endwell Road and Barriedale, Wallbutton Road, Waller
Road, Walsham Road, Wellington Close and Wild Goose Drive; and
(2) Lindo Street, Selden Road and Senate Street.
supported by traffic calming measures to constitute 20mph zones.
3. The restrictions referred to above do not apply to ambulance, fire brigade or
police vehicles in an emergency or to anything done with the permission or at the
direction of a police constable in uniform.
4. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the orders and measures can be inspected
between the hours of 10.00 am and 4.00 pm on Mondays to Fridays at the offices of
Lewisham Highways Development, Wearside Service Centre, Wearside Road, London, SE13
(telephone 020-8314 2265).
5. Any person wishing to question the validity of either order or of any of their
provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument
or relevant regulation made under the Act has not been complied with may, within 6
weeks from the date on which the order was made, apply for the purpose to the High
Court.
