THE ANIMALS AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS (IMPORT & EXPORT) (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2000
The Scottish Ministers by this licence issued under the terms of Article 3(2) of the Importation of Animals Order 1997, hereby authorise the landing in Scotland, in accordance with the conditions set out below, of Ruminating Ungulates of the Antilocapridae, Bovidae, Camelidae, Cervidae, Giraffidae, Moshidae and Traguilidae families originating in Approved Bodies, Institutes or Centres approved in accordance with Annex C of Council Directive 92/65/EEC in Member States of the European Union and Norway to An Approved Body, Institute or Centre approved in accordance with Annex C of Council Directive 92/65/EEC at ANY PORT OR AIRPORT IN SCOTLAND On behalf of the Scottish Ministers S McDowell, Officer of the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department. 19 July 2005 This licence is valid from the date of issue until varied or revoked by the Scottish Ministers. Conditions 1. All landings of ruminating ungulates of the families specified above shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Importation of Animals Order 1997, the requirements of the Welfare of Animals (Transport) Order 1997, the requirements of the Animals (Post-Import Control) Order 1995 and with the following provisions of this licence. 2. Annex 1 is an extract from Commission Regulation (EC) No 1282/2002. Note that this licence refers only to the importation of animals listed above and does not cover the importation of any semen, ova or embryos. 3. Each consignment shall be accompanied by an export health certificate in accordance with the model certificate at Annex 1 issued by an Official Veterinarian of the EU Member State of origin or Norway. 4. The animal(s) must be kept at the place of destination unless movement is agreed on the written authority of the Divisional Veterinary Manager. 5. Importers must notify the Divisional Veterinary Manager of the nature of the consignment, its anticipated date of arrival and the place of destination at least 24 hours prior to import. 6. Blood samples may be required to be taken within a few days of the animals being imported as part of veterinary checks. Although the laboratory tests will be carried out at the expense of the Department, the importer must provide facilities and assistance for the restraint of the animals at his or her expense. Animals which fail any post import veterinary checks and tests, may be required to be slaughtered without compensation to the importer or re-exported at the owner’s expense.
