THE STOPPING-UP OF HIGHWAYS (FOOTWAY AT CENTRAL SQUARE, CARDIFF) ORDER 2005

Notice is hereby given that the Minister for Economic Development and Transport, acting on behalf of the National Assembly for Wales, has made an Order under section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, to authorise the stopping-up of the sections of highway described in the Schedule to this notice. The stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable development consisting of retail and residential units, car parking, a plaza, service access and loading to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted by the city and county of Cardiff Council on 25 May 2005 under Ref 05/00154/C. The Order will cease to have effect upon cessation of the planning permission. During the 6 weeks from 30 August 2005, copies of the Order and the deposited plan may be inspected free of charge at Cardiff County Council Regulatory Services, City Hall, Cardiff CF10 3ND during normal office hours or may be obtained free of charge from the address below quoting the Welsh Assembly Government Ref CZ 510-5-71-61. If any person desires to question the validity of the Order, or any of the provisions contained therein, on the grounds: (a) that it is not within the powers of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990; or (b) that their interests have been substantially prejudiced by a failure to comply with any of the requirements of the Act, that person may, within 6 weeks of 30 August 2005, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein. M D Burnell, Transport Policy and Administration Division Schedule (All measurements are approximate) Description of the lengths of highway to be stopped-up under this Order. 1. An irregularly shaped area of footway fronting the former planning and environment office of Cardiff County Council, Central Square, Cardiff from the existing access road to the basement car park to a point 26.9 metres eastwards from the same point having an average length of 53 metres, an average width of 4.7 metres and area of 236 square metres. 2. An irregularly shaped area of highway fronting the former planning and environment office of Cardiff County Council, Central Square, Cardiff from the existing wall and access gate eastwards to the existing access road to the basement car park having an average length of 22 metres, an average width of 9.3 metres and an area of 200.3 square metres.
