ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A282 TRUNK ROAD (DARTFORD-THURROCK CROSSING AND APPROACH ROADS) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 200 

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order under section 84(1)(a) and (2) and section 126 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on the A282 trunk road at the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing and approach roads, at Dartford and Thurrock in the counties of Kent and Essex. The effect of the Order would be to impose the following speed limits: Lengths of roads subject to a 60 miles per hour speed limit: 1. The northbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road from marker post 8.309 at Junction 2 of the M25 Motorway to a point 270 metres south of the sign gantry adjacent to the M25’s Junction 1A off-slip. 2. The southbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road from a point 200 metres south of the southern edge of Littlebrook Bridge (marker post 5.765) to marker post 7.865 at Junction 2 of the M25 Motorway. 3. The slip road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road from the A2 roundabout, from a point 23.2 metres north of that roundabout to its junction with that carriageway. 4. The slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road to the A2 roundabout. 5. The slip road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road from Princes Road. 6. The slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road to Princes Road. 7. The slip road leading from the northbound carriageway of the trunk road to the roundabout at the western end of Littlebrook Bridge, from its junction with that carriageway to a point opposite marker post 5.775. 8. The slip road leading to the southbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road from the roundabout at the eastern end of Littlebrook Bridge, from a point opposite marker post 5.730 to its junction with that carriageway. 9. The northbound distributor road leading from a point 23.2 metres north of the A2 trunk road roundabout to the A296 Princes Road roundabout. 10. The southbound distributor road leading from the A296 Princes Road roundabout to its merge with the southbound off-slip road from the A282 to the A2 trunk road roundabout. Lengths of road subject to a 50 miles per hour speed limit: 1. The northbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road at the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing and approach roads, Dartford in the county of Kent, from a point 270 metres south of the sign gantry adjacent to the M25’s Junction 1A off-slip to a point 110 metres north of the Littlebrook Bridge, a total distance of 1100 metres. 2. The northbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road from a point 275 metres north of the Toll Booths to marker post 186.875. 3. The slip road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road from the roundabout at the western end of Littlebrook Bridge, from a point opposite marker post 5.537 to its junction with that carriageway. 4. The slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the trunk road to the roundabout at the eastern end of Littlebrook Bridge, from its junction with that carriageway to a point opposite marker post 5.598. 5. The slip road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road to the roundabout at the junction between the A282 trunk road, the A13 trunk road, the A1090 and the A1306. 6. The slip road leading to the southbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road from the roundabout at the junction between the A282 trunk road, the A13 trunk road, the A1090 and the A1306. Lengths of roads subject to a 40 miles per hour speed limit: The northbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road at the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing and approach roads, Dartford in the county of Kent, from a point 110 metres north of Littlebrook Bridge to a point 275 metres north of the Toll Booths, a total distance of 540 metres. Lengths of road subject to a 30 miles per hour speed limit: 1. The link road leading from the A282 trunk road at marker post 187.500, through the Essex Point Marshalling Area, rejoining that carriageway at marker post 187.720. 2. The link road leading from the Essex Point Marshalling Area to London Road, West Thurrock. 3. The link road leading from London Road, West Thurrock to the northbound carriageway of the A282 trunk road at marker post 188.100. Note: “the A2 roundabout” means the roundabout at the junction of the A282 trunk road, the A2 trunk road and the M25 Motorway (Junction 2). The A282 Trunk Road (Dartford-Thurrock Crossing and Approach Roads) (Speed Limits) Order 1994 2046 would be revoked. A copy of the draft Order, a plan illustrating the proposal and a statement explaining why the Secretary of State proposes to make the Order may be inspected during office hours at the offices of Dartford Borough Council, Civic Centre, Home Gardens, Dartford DA1 1DR and the offices of Thurrock Council, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, Essex RM17 6SL, until the end of the objection period indicated below. Any person desiring to object or make representations to the Secretary of State’s proposal should send, to be received not later than 30 September 2005, a written statement of his or her representation or objection and of the grounds thereof to Traffic Operations Directorate, Highways Agency, Federated House, London Road, Dorking, Surrey RH4 1SZ, quoting Ref HA/A282/28/9/41. In the preparation of an objection and the statement of grounds of objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.
